    About

Our company Irasshai was founded in 2023 with the concept of spreading amazing Japanese items around the world! Japan is well known for various world-class items. These items span a whole variety of genres, from food, and materials, to entertainment and sightseeing spots. However, Japan is seeing a slow Westernization of our daily lifestyle, and the use of traditional Japanese-made products and Japanese patterns is on the decline. In particular, traditional Japanese patterns are being confined to important ceremonial occasions known as the Four Ceremonial Occasions [ kankonsousai], coming of age, weddings, funerals, and festivals remembering the dead, and outside of this, the chance to see them are being lost. Each traditional Japanese pattern is said to have its own spirit of Japan within. From now on, if these Japanese patterns were to disappear, wouldn't be also be in the cards that this spirit of harmony and Japaneseness would also disappear? It's that thought that made us think, “Isn't there something that we can do to preserve these patterns?” and how we came about starting this project. By re-interpreting these traditional Japanese patterns, and remaking them into designs that can be easily used by in the daily life of people worldwide, and combining them with traditional Japanese items, we can bring this “Spirit of Harmony” that is treasured by Japanese people to people worldwide, and help to preserve Japanese patterns.
