After fifteen years of working for Corporate in Supply Chain, I left my corporate job to pursue my dream and to launch my own business, Near Zero, which specializes in ultralight family camping gear at affordable prices. Near Zero was inspired by my father Dean, my own passion for the outdoors, and enabled by my background in international business. Driven by my love for backpacking and passion for getting people outdoors, I used my fifteen years of experience working for three large Fortune 500 companies, and experience as a supply chain executive to create my dream company, Near Zero. Throughout the years, my father, Dean, and I dreamed of starting an outdoor gear company. When Dean passed away unexpectedly in 2018, I wanted to turn that dream into a reality, and in 2019, Near Zero was born. Then in July 2021, I followed the American dream, quit my corporate job, and began my passionate pursuit of growing Near Zero full-time. As the founder of Near Zero, my goal is to get people outdoors so they can create similar outdoor memories and bonds that I did with my dad and five brothers. Scott holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Arizona State University (ASU), an MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management, and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Spanish. He currently resides in Mesa, Arizona with his wife and five children. He and his family have backpacked all over the world, including places like New Zealand, Hong Kong, China and Vietnam, and have slept countless nights under the stars in much of the United States.
What does it mean to back a project (pledge)?
When you back a project, you’re pre-ordering the product. That means you'll get it once it's produced. Besides getting the product itself, you're also joining a community. Follow along the production process, take part in important surveys and give the creator valuable feedback.
What is Kickstarter?
Kickstarter is a launchpad for creators to raise funds for the initial production of their invention. Backers (that's you!) can support the creator by pre-ordering the product at a discounted price.
